"I
was 9 or 10 years old when I figured
out that everyone's family didn't all
play music together, so music has always
been a huge part of my life. Heather
got me to go to a Sojourn show at The
Bar Next Door in Springfield MO in about
'94 and I was hooked. Heather is probably
the only person in the world who has
been to more Jupiter Hollow (Sojourn)
shows than me - oh yeah, and Randy. We
used to sit around a campfire with acoustic
guitar in hand and play after shows -
that's where I learned the Jupiter Hollow
songs. One of the best days of my life
was when Randy told me they wanted me
in the band."
When did you start playing music and what made
you start?
At
6 years old I started piano lessons continuing with
those until I was 10 when I took up trumpet for school
band. Not long after that I gained access to an acoustic
guitar which I played off and on. On my 13th birthday
I got a cheap (very cheap) electric guitar, and have
played ever since. As for what made me start playing,
my whole family was very musical. My father and uncles
had a gospel quartet who would travel in the summers.
Some of my youngest memories were going on road trips
with the band.
How long have you played with Jupiter Hollow?
Since October '98.
What were some of your most memorable gigs?
The
show in '99 at the Outland Ballroom in Springfield,
MO. When we opened for Legion of Mary. I was very
happy with my hometown for the number of people that
showed up and the way they were "hootin' & hollerin'"
when they left the show!
What other bands and musicians have influenced or inspired
you?
Too many to list. I mean, all of them. It was Chuck
Berry's "Johnny B. Goode" in Back To The
Future - Eddie Van Halen's solo in "Beat It." I
don't know, I pretty much wanted to play guitar most
of my life.
What's the last CD you listened to?
C'mon, it's 2007 I have a Microsoft Zune! The CD
player collects dust these days & I tend to hit random
on
the Zune.
What are your other interests besides music?
Fishing, videogames, sports (St. Louis Cardinals & Denver Broncos).
